A Wilderness Experience
Petty Creek is a spiritual place, where words are not sufficient or even necessary to describe what happens here – where the soul meets God and God meets the soul. A place where fishing with flies is the effortless poetry of the heart. Petty Creek is where “it” happens. Petty Creek is where the creek flows wider at the end of the peaceful, rugged valley. It’s a place of inspiration, where life’s work continues, but in a different way – not connected to production quotas, or stock prices, or market share or the P&L. This is where work, calling, identity, passion, purpose, influence and destiny in the purest form possible, continues…
MONTANA
The name Montana comes from the Spanish word montaña, which in turn comes from the Latin word montanea, meaning "mountain" or more broadly "mountainous country."
You cannot say you have experienced Montana, without also having slept in its mountains.
Petty Creek Mountain Ranch has a rich history Spanning over the last century.
The past 5+ years, the ranch has taken new shape – with fresh eyes and hands at work to make it a destination for the adventurous spirits. The rugged terrain is home to multiple cabins, a lodge, the west fork of Petty Creek, highland cattle, horses, trails, fields, mountains, forest land, and more. Upon arrival, the terrain speaks to you about the experience and journey you’re about to embark on. If you’re willing to let go of the social, political, cultural, and corporate ties back at home – this place has a knack for causing a bit of disruption in your life. When you hear disruption, you may be caught off guard and taken aback, but it’s the sort of disruption that brings out positive growth and gains in your life. People walk away from the truest of Montanan experiences with clarity as bright as the big sky it’s famously named after. During the winter, we see snowmobiles, sledding, snowshoeing and more. Spring thru Fall, we see activities like pistol range shooting, long range shooting, sporting clay shooting, dirt bikes, mountain bikes, hiking, roughing it in a bronco, fly fishing, hunting, stargazing, cold plunging, and more. Beyond the outdoor experiences, the ranch is home to a wide range of luxury-comfort cabins.
The Ranch House
The Ranch House, log home, was placed on the former Circle S Ranch in 1980. Constructed of old growth timber - some of which measures 30”+ in diameter, the three (3) bedroom Ranch House is where the fun begins. There are numerous large windows to enjoy the stunning scenery, along with a wood-burning fireplace and a sizable kitchen.
The Cooks Cabin
Built in 1980, this former garage/apartment was renovated in 2020. We reimagined this space and created a two (2) bedroom cabin with radiant heat and a large Chef’s Kitchen. While this is currently our owner's favorite little getaway, it was created to provide the perfect DIY or hired Chef’s area for retreats.

The Longhouse
This 2-story 2200sf, 4-bedroom home is part of our Long Shop and Long Wood shop building. This is a sweet house with a large grass lawn on the east side of the mountain and a wonderful deck to view the horses, wildlife, and big Montana thunderstorms and epic snow.
The Bighorn
This fully restored cabin sits on the West Fork of Petty Creek, which beautifully connects the land and water Petty Creek Mountain Ranch exists on within the canyon. Enjoy solitude and an expansive view of Petty Creek valley, as well as Petty Mountain where the bighorn sheep reign.
The Tamarack
This is the newest addition to Petty Creek Mountain Ranch. This cabin sits above the trout pond, and is nestled up against the hillside where you’ll find peace and quiet. Overlooking the pastures the highland bulls graze brings an appreciation for both the land and the animals we all rely on so much.
